Hours and Admission

Museum Hours:

The FASNY Museum of Firefighting is open 10:00am - 4:30pm daily*.

Museum galleries close promptly at 4:30pm.

Please plan your visit accordingly.

*Holidays the Museum closes on are as follows: Thanksgiving, New Year’s Day, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day, Easter, Memorial Day and Independence Day. The Museum also closes in the event of severe weather.

The Museum often has pre-scheduled programs that necessitate the temporary closing of one or more galleries at any given time. If this is a concern for you or your party, please telephone or email us in advance of your visit to determine the Museum's programming for that day.

Museum Conduct Policies:

The FASNY Museum is not a children's Museum. We are a family history Museum. Families come in all types, some have children, some do not, so expectations of a Museum visit vary greatly. The best way for any family to learn is through doing. So, the Museum offers interactive family-friendly opportunities of all types throughout the Museum. The majority of these interactives are for children ages three to eight who are at least 36" tall (and no more than 48" tall with shoes on to do the Jr. Firefighter challenge.) Children two and under (or under 36" tall) or will not be able to participate in most interactives, due to safety concerns.

To ensure all visitors expectations for their Museum visit are met, and to keep all visitors and artifacts safe, we require Museum policies to be followed during your visit. Below are some of the Museum's policies regarding conduct for all visitors in Museum galleries:

-All visitors must watch the Museum's orientation presentation (about 5 minutes) before they are allowed entry to the Museum. This is to ensure you understand the policies concerning the Museum artifacts on exhibit.

-Due to heightened security concerns in today's world, large bags are not allowed to be brought into the Museum.
We define a large bag as a backpack, a duffle bag or any other bag larger than 14 inches long. Please plan accordingly.

-No food or drink of any kind is allowed in the Museum.

-No running, jumping or horseplay is allowed in the Museum.

-All visitors must be good Museum citizens: use your inside voice and be considerate of others during your visit. While we want you to share your thoughts with those who are with you and laugh out loud if so moved, yelling or screaming will not be tolerated.

-The touching of objects is allowed only when you see the Firestar logo.
